The
Venue
Amazingly, this state-of-the-art facility accomplishes the
seemingly impossible feat of being both massive and
intimate at the same time. The BOB's retractable roof is a
technological marvel. Equally impressive is the natural
turf that's genetically engineered to thrive in extreme
heat and low light. Restaurants, an arcade, batting cages,
and a pool and Jacuzzi available for rental top a long
list of modern amenities. And every seat at the park
offers a panoramic view of the field.
The Experience
During evening games in the summer and daytime games in
the spring and fall, the roof is opened with a fanfare
that puts the stadium's sound system to good use. |

The
Scene
Phoenix Suns owner Jerry Colangelo energized the Valley
and launched his own empire when he teamed up with America
West Airlines to build a major sports and concert arena.
Known as the Purple Palace to Valley residents (all the
seats are the royal hue), the 20,000-seat America West
Arena is home of the Suns and host to the Coyotes, Mercury
and Arizona Rattlers arena football team. Look for team
shops inside, as well as the usual fast-food vendors.
The Shows
The arena, located next door to Bank One Ballpark (part of
the Colangelo empire), doubles as a major concert venue.
Past performers have included U2, Janet Jackson and Rod
Stewart. |
